Representatives of 167 first-year female students received certificates today from U.S. Ambassador Donald Booth after completing the first stage of the USAID sponsored new University Preparation Camp (UPC) at Addis Ababa University (AAU).

A new, three year partnership with three Ethiopian universities, the UPC will provide skills and support  to 2,250 women for completing their university education. USAID, with funding from the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), is administering the project, implemented by Education Development Center (EDC) in cooperation with Family Health International (FHI) 360, with collaboration from the U.S. Peace Corps and the gender offices at Addis Ababa University, Jimma University, and Adama Science and Technology University.
