Design and construct Government of Ethiopia standard health centers and regional warehouses, and renovate health centers experiencing serious infrastructure problems in facilities with high antiretroviral therapy patient loads and in areas of high HIV prevalence

The Health Infrastructure Program (HIP) is responsible for the successful implementation of activities related to the design, planning, construction, renovation and rehabilitation of health infrastructure in selected areas of high HIV prevalence in Ethiopia. As one component of the program, Tetra Tech Inc. provides architecture and engineering expertise to design new health centers, as well as quality control on health center construction.
As the second component in the infrastructure program, International Relief and Development is responsible for the construction of new health centers based on this standard design. In addition to construction of health centers and related warehouses, the Health Infrastructure Program also identifies plans and carries out services related to the renovation and rehabilitation of existing health centers. HIP subcontracts with registered contractors for construction activities and is responsible for all personnel, equipment, materials, supplies and facilities in order to manage, supervise, inspect and make or authorize payment to expedite completion of essential health infrastructure.

- Construct 85 new health centers based on the standard design
